The Year Everything Happened: a Season 3 Timeline

A rookie's debut, a kick that became a verb, a mirror match for the ages, and a first world title.

Spring: a debut and a kick

In April 2013, a rookie mid laner picked Nidalee in his debut and solo-killed his lane opponent. His name was Faker. Nobody knew that first blood was the overture to a decade.

The same year, InSec's Lee Sin turned a backwards-kick ultimate into vocabulary. Sonic Wave, ward hop, Dragon's Rage — kicking the target into your own team is still called 'the InSec' today. The original clip lives on our videos page.

Summer: the Zed mirror

In the summer 2013 finals, the blind-pick deciding game gave both teams Zed. Faker versus Ryu. The few seconds between two shadows at one bar of health became the most replayed moment in Korean esports.

Some scenes need no retelling — the clip is on our videos page. And if you wonder what runes and masteries a Season 3 Zed ran, the Zed guide keeps them intact.

Autumn: the first crown

Then October, Los Angeles. SKT T1 lifted the Season 3 World Championship over Royal Club — the first Worlds title for a Korean team, and the opening of a dynasty. The finals highlights are on our videos page.

That same autumn, Jinx launched alongside the 'Get Jinxed' music video, and the 'A Twist of Fate' cinematic entered everyone's playlist. In game and out, this truly was the year everything happened.
